Scalp MicroPigmentation (SMP) is more than just a hair tattoo. It’s a highly specialised process whereby tiny deposits of pigment are positioned within the dermal layer of the skin, replicating the appearance of a shaven head. Our SMP treatments are as flexible as you need them to be. Typically, our clients are able to specify the shape of their frontal hairline and side profiles and request either a defined or super-soft “broken” hairline. Some clients opt for a more receded look or request that we use lighter pigments to give their head a softer appearance. A short touch-up session may be required, but these usually occur five years apart.

You’ll first have an initial consultation. Here we will talk you through the treatment, and then based upon your requirements and the areas you’d like to treat, we’ll tell you the number of sessions needed and the associated price.
Patch tests for pigments are also necessary and occur at least 48 hours before your treatment.
Scalp Micropigmentation is commonly used to conceal alopecia areata, however it can also be used for alopecia totalis and traction alopecia. When treating alopecia our aim is to provide the client with peace of mind and a renewed confidence, regardless of whether or not the real hair returns.
If you only require a slight faded look, then your SMP should last around 2-4 years. Otherwise, the average treatment typically lasts 3-6 years, after which time we recommend a booster treatment.
Although the pigments are not real hairs, our clients regularly comment that people don’t seem to notice anything unusual from a reasonable distance.
